SMS Consent & Opt-In

Effective date: April 2, 2026

1. What we send

Gatherfam sends transactional SMS messages only. These include event invitations, RSVP reminders, and day-of event updates. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Message frequency varies based on event activity.

2. How guests opt in

Guests explicitly opt in to SMS notifications during the RSVP process. No text message is sent until the guest provides affirmative consent.

  1. Host sends an invite via email containing an RSVP link.
  2. Guest opens the RSVP page at gatherfam.app/e/[token].
  3. Below the submit button, a visually separated "Text Notifications" section is visible.
  4. Guest optionally checks a consent checkbox and enters their phone number.
  5. Guest submits the form—consent is recorded with a timestamp and the phone number.

3. Screenshots

The SMS opt-in section appears below the RSVP submit button, visually separated by a divider. The checkbox is unchecked by default. When checked, a phone number input is revealed.

4. Consent language shown to guests

The following consent language is displayed next to the opt-in checkbox on the RSVP page:

"Yes, I want to receive SMS text message notifications about this event from Gatherfam (888-786-8993)."

5. How to opt out

You can opt out of SMS notifications at any time:

  • Reply STOP to any message from Gatherfam to immediately stop receiving texts.
  • Reply HELP for help or more information.
  • Contact us at privacy@gatherfam.app.

After opting out you will receive a one-time confirmation message. No further messages will be sent after that.

6. Privacy

When a guest opts in to SMS notifications, we record the phone number, the opt-in timestamp, and the invitation ID associated with the consent. This data is used solely to deliver event notifications and to maintain a compliance record.
